Controller / Accounting Manager

Role Overview:
You’ll be responsible for all core accounting, reporting, and internal controls—covering AR/AP, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly closes. You’ll maintain and document accounting processes, implement controls, lead workflow improvement, and help us prepare for continued growth. This role has visibility to the President and direct impact on the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations: AR, AP, bank/credit card reconciliations, payroll allocations
Maintain and document robust accounting procedures and internal controls
Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, job costing, project profitability)
Own monthly/quarterly close, assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
Prepare for and support annual audits, work with external CPA
Identify, investigate, and resolve billing or workflow issues with clients, vendors, and staff
Lead improvements in process, documentation, and use of financial/accounting software
Direct and oversee performance of junior accounting staff as needed
Analyze capital investments, contract pricing, and project profitability for management decision-making
Take on ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as business evolves
Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business (required)
Accounting/finance experience; construction industry strongly preferred
Deep understanding of accounting principles, controls, and compliance
Demonstrated success improving accounting operations and financial results
Advanced Excel and strong proficiency in accounting platforms (QuickBooks, cloud-based systems)
Proven ability to work independently and communicate clearly
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a growing, non-corporate environment
Must work on-site in Hillsboro, OR
